'The increase of housing prices due to property speculation and privatisation of social housing have drastically effected the housing situation today. There are over 60,000 empty properties in London, and with the recent criminalisation of residential squatting, high rents and still many homeless. Drawing from my interests in land ownership, ideas of collectivity and making use of empty buildings, together with my own experiences of squatting and setting up a housing co-op, I am investigating a history of alternative housing in the Caledonian area of Islington through walking, conversation and making.’ Carla Wright, 2014
