Care Full

Sarah Cole

Sarah met with carers at Islington Carer's Centre for four months. Through talking and making - drawings, videos, sculptures, and performances - they articulated together a landscape of isolation, social responsibility, and endurance. The final installation brought visitors to ICC via a 'secret' alleyway (a fire-exit) into a mist filled room, where performers - the carers themselves - smashed plates, silently glued them back together, made safety-pin bunting, held up protest banners, and juggled, amongst the video works. This performance took place amidst the daily on-going activities of ICC.

Sarah was commissioned in 2012 for A Million Minutes in partnership with Islington Council with funding from Arts Council England.
